Mathias Mpuuga, the former Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, has launched a pressure group dubbed the democratic alliance.
During the launch, Mpuuga waged scathing attack on the current state of Uganda’s politics, accusing leaders of prioritizing pettiness over real issues affecting democratic governance.

He noted that the struggle for liberation had been derailed over the past four years.
Mpuuga blames this on leaders who chose to focus on trivial matters rather than addressing the pressing issues facing the country.
Mpuuga’s comments come as he unveiled the Democratic Alliance, a new political platform aimed at promoting good governance and democratic change.

The alliance promises to provide a home for all Ugandans, particularly the youth, who are seeking a new kind of politics.
The former Leader of the Opposition also took a swipe at his former party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), which he accused of being in a “deep slumber”. Mpuuga’s fallout with the NUP resulted in his suspension from the party due to allegations of corruption.
