UTB, UTA Strengthen Ties to Drive Tourism Growth in Uganda

The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and the Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) have committed to closer collaboration through a joint action framework aimed at streamlining efforts across the public and private sectors.

During a strategic engagement held in Kampala, leaders from both institutions emphasized the importance of coordinated planning, shared data, and integrated programming to drive long-term sector growth.

The meeting marked a significant step towards dismantling silos within the industry and fostering a culture of shared accountability.

UTB CEO Juliana Kagwa emphasized that aligning goals and strategies across institutions will enable Uganda to position itself more effectively on the global tourism map, while UTA President Yogi Biriggwa highlighted the need for ongoing dialogue and transparency to ensure all stakeholders contribute meaningfully to the country’s tourism development.

“We recognize that a thriving tourism industry relies on coordinated effort. We are committed to structured, regular engagement with UTA to jointly address sector challenges and seize new opportunities.” Kagwa said.

She added that by prioritizing joint marketing, skills development, policy coherence, and mutual support at events and expos, both UTB and UTA are laying the foundation for a more resilient and competitive tourism ecosystem that benefits communities, businesses, and travelers alike.
