Unveiling Mutesi Jovia, the Lady who Effortlessly ‘Stole’ the Heart of Busoga King

The Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom, Katukiiro Dr Joseph Muvawala Nsekere on Thursday unveiled Ms Mutesi Jovia as the queen of Busoga, alias Inhebantu, and wife-to-be of the Kyabazinga, His Royal Highness William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV.

Inhebantu of Busoga is the title given to the queen consort to the ruler of the Kingdom of Busoga – the Kyabazinga of Busoga, and the colourful unveiling function was held at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja District, eastern Uganda.

Ms Mutesi, upon conclusion of all the traditional ceremonies, will become the new Inhebantu of Busoga, with the most recent one being the late Alice Muloki, who died on November 6, 2005. Alice Muloki was the wife of the late Kyabazinga Henry Wako Muloki.

Family Background

Jovia Mutesi, the new Inhebantu comes from the ‘Baise Menha’ clan which originates from Bugweri district.

She is the daughter of Mr Stanley Bayoole, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Namisindwa district in eastern Uganda, where the traditional ceremonies attracted a number of bigwigs earlier today before the official announcement in Bugembe.

Mr Bayole was a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) kingpin in Busoga until about 2015 when he quit to join the National Resistance Movement (NRM). He previously served as the LC3 chairman of Mayuge Town Council until 2011 when he was defeated.

The Inhebantu hails from a deeply political family. Ms Sarah Namumbya, her paternal aunt, served out two terms as Mayuge District Woman representative. Her uncle Richard Kudeeba was a long-serving electoral commissioner of the FDC.

Early Life and Education:

Mutesi is believed to be 30 years of age, although her date of birth has not been indicated anywhere public. The beautiful wife-to-be of the Kyabazinga is a pure Musoga even though some people have been accusing her of being a Rwandese due to her skin complex.
