Uganda over the weekend witnessed the holy marriage of Charles Baale Mayiga and his fiancée, Ms Sonia Elizabeth Nabagereka at Lubaga Cathedral, Charles is a son to ow’ek. Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga and Mrs. Margeret Mayiga.
The couple was wedded by the Rt. Rev. Bishop of Masaka Catholic Diocese, Serverus Jjumba.
He made a call to the newlyweds to put God at forefront and remain faithful to one another.
“This is a covenant that needs divine intervention. Uphold and respect your marriage vows and dedicate it to God. above all, love one another,” he said.
In attendance was the Speaker of Parliament, Chief Justice, Ministers, Nabagereka Silvia Naginda, Prince Wassajja, FDC’s Amb. Waswa Birigwa and several other distinguished guests from both Buganda and Central Government amongst others.
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa based his speech on the importance of prayer in marriage and spelt out the core purposes for marriage as “companionship, procreation, and redemption.”
“There is no marriage that can succeed without prayer,” he said, adding that “prayer builds unity and strengthens marriage.” He said.
