President Museveni has commissioned the new headquarters of the Special Forces Command, named him “General Yoweri Museveni House”.
Built by Special Forces Command construction unit, the complex cost UGX.3.48b.
He also commissioned newly-built dormitories for soldiers, renovated houses for non-commissioned officers, gun shades and a 30,000-litre fuel pump.
These cost UGX1.1b and all the work executed in 23 months.
“The army should continue this way, building its facilities and saving money. You should do this especially for lodgings for soldiers. It is not right for soldiers to sleep outside the barracks,” he said.
Besides saving money, he said military facilties need a certain degree of privacy and confidentiality and that building them yourselves helps.
The Special Forces Command (SFC) is a specialized component of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), tasked with carrying out special missions in support of national military objectives.
The SFC in conducting operations coordinates closely with the Land Forces, Air Forces and Reserve Forces of Uganda.
The SFC is headquartered in Entebbe, Wakiso District, with various bases and training facilities in different parts of the country.
Meanwhile, Museveni also warned encroachers on army land and said that they should not be tolerated.
“Encroachers should either compensate the army if they have built on the land or vacate the land and ownership reverts to the UPDF”.
