The Central Government has been asked to collaborate with communities around catchment areas in order to conserve and protect the environment.
The call was sounded today by capt. Johnson Tashobya the DISO Kasese district while representing the Resident district commissioner (RDC) at the celebrations of Uganda water and environment week at the mayors’ gardens in Kasese town.
Tashobya said that when community members around water catchment areas embrace nature, the challenge of floods will be no more.
In his submission, Joseph Kule Muranga the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Kingdom premier revealed plans to plant fruit trees along roads before revealing that about one million and three hundred bamboo seedlings are expected to be planted in the water catchment areas across the Rwenzori sub- region.
Albert Orijabo the Assistant commissioner from the ministry of water and environment asked the community members in the water catchment areas to embrace conserving nature to curb calamities especially floods and landslides.
