FDC votes out Kasese District split proponents in primary elections

Partial results from the FDC Kasese Electoral Commission office indicates that Aloysius Baguma Kighema has won the FDC flag Busongora South parliamentary seat with 258 votes beating the incumbent MP Jackson Mbaju Katika who came second garnering 245 votes.

Sedrack Bakulirahi came in the third position with 155 votes.

While declaring the partial results to the media on Monday evening, Lazarus Matu the secretary to the commission also declared Sanyu Gideon Ntabosi as the winner of the FDC flag for the Kasese Municipality Parliamentary seat with 125 voters, Nguru David Bradford came second with 79 and Ezekiel Masereka in the third position with 74 votes.

For the Kasese Municipality Mayoral Seat, Kisinga town council chairperson and renowned local musician Chance Kahindo has been declared winner of the FDC flag with 245 votes after beating Micah Mutahunga who came second with 29 votes.

I caught up with Aloysius Kighema who with overwhelmingly joy expressed his gratitude to the FDC vetters for entrusting him with the FDC flag for Busongora South County.

By 9pm, results from at least 28 sub counties out of the 33 in the district had put Florence Kabugho in the lead for Kasese Woman MP FDC flag bearer, Sibendire Bigogo Thembo as the winner for Kasese District seat FDC flag bearer and Nzoghu Musabe William as FDC flag bearer for Busongora North county then Atkins Katusabe Godfrey as the lead winner for Bukonzo West County.

For Harold Tony of Bukonzo East County, it was a sure win since he contested unopposed.

Also notably about the FDC primaries is that almost all district councilors who fronted the split of Kasese district lost the FDC primaries to new faces including the district speaker Godfrey Bwerere and Bwesumbu’s Wilson Mbathulaghu.

Its only two pro-split who narrowly survived
