Comedian Sammy Okanya ‘Mighty Family’ Walks Free After 126 Days in Incarceration

Comedian Sammy Okanya has finally been released from prison after 126 days of incarceration. His case was dismissed by Magistrate Caroline Kyoshabire, who found no case to answer. This decision comes after Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi failed to make a similar ruling for four months.

Okanya, a popular comedian from the Mighty Family, was arrested and charged with common nuisance. He was remanded to Luzira Prison, sparking widespread criticism and calls for his release.

Counsel Ishaq Olega, who defended Okanya, is being hailed for his selfless efforts in securing the comedian’s freedom.

In a video message, Okanya thanked his supporters and urged all Ugandans to free themselves from mental imprisonment.
