Uganda held its first Presidential Elections on 9th May 1996 and since then President Museveni has been Winning according to Uganda Electoral Commission though from 1996 to the last Concluded 2021 General Elections his Support has been declining.
In 1996 President Museveni won with 75.5% Against Paul Ssemogerere who got 23.73% in Second Place. First term.
In 2001 President Museveni won with 69.33% Against Kiiza Besigye who got 27.82% in Second Place
In 2006 President Museveni won with 59.26% Against Kiiza Besigye who got 37.39% in Second Place.
In 2011 President Museveni won with 68.38% Against Kiiza Busigye who got 26.01 in Second Place. Here % increased a bit compared to 2006 buh declined from that 1996.
In 2016 President Museveni won with 60.62% Against again Kiiza Busigye who got 35.61 in Second.
In the last Concluded 2021 General Elections President Museveni won with 58.38 Against Robert Ssentamu( Bobi wine) who got 35.08% in Second Place. Here Bobi wine came from nowhere and majority of the the Population wea doubting him but at the End he proved them wrong.
From 1996 when Uganda held its first General Elections President Museveni remains the most Popular Politician up to now though his support has been declining and Majority of Ugandans in all Political groupings love him most though with different political affiliations they still see him as the best among others at the end, if you have been following Our politics well.
President Museveni’ S Support has been declining and it will continue to, not because Ugandans hate him but because of people He is working with and Selfish NRM Leadership from it’s Secretariat to grassroot. And yet NRM is the most structured Political Party in Uganda, but it’s Leadership Lost touch with the Population. That’s why Every Elections NRM Leaders become rich and grass root supporters continue to become poor. NRM grassroot supporters are remembered in Elections where they are given T-shirts to put on and Dance during rallies and the Lucky ones get lunch,,,and after that they suffer for the following 5yrs plus Empty promises during Elections… All that blame is put on President Museveni at the End yet Sometimes he doesn’t know what happens on ground and people near him fight hand to make sure he doesn’t get to know what is happening to People who trust him with their Votes. They what they do after swindling all Funds meant for his Supporters and Services at the ground.
When it Comes to placements even NRM grassroot Soldiers are not Considered yet some of them are qualified though others have no qualifications their little support that’s comes are swindled Like Youth, Women Funds and many more hence Affecting President Museveni at the End.
NRM is well structured with Its Leaders who are well paid monthly to run the Party but they opt to sit in Offices for 5yrs because they know Party Supporters are poor even if they come at the End with pocket money Mobilizers will be their for that Short Period of time. But in all this President Museveni is the one who Suffers but even those people trying to make him fail pretending that they are working they forgot that they may collapse with him,,,And all the wealth they accumulated it goes back to its Original Citizens.
Finally in the Last Concluded Elections President Museveni lost Buganda not that Bobi was Strong but because of weakness and Selfishness of NRM , Leaders led by NRM Secretariat…Respect to Office of the National Chairman, ONC at least some work is done there.
President Museveni if this is not Addressed expect worse in Future.
