The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), in partnership with the Uganda Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Emirates Airline, proudly announced the commencement of a crucial familiarization trip for a delegation of trade partners, which began on January 21, 2025. This initiative is a key element of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UTB and Emirates, aimed at promoting Uganda as a premier tourism destination.
Coordinated with Uganda’s mission in Abu Dhabi, this trip brings together 11 delegates who will explore some of Uganda’s most iconic tourist attractions. A highlight of their itinerary includes a visit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, famously known as home to the world-renowned mountain gorillas. This immersive experience is designed to provide delegates with firsthand insights into Uganda’s unique travel offerings.
Ambassador Zaake Kibedi, Uganda’s representative in the United Arab Emirates, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, stating, “This visit is a step forward in strengthening the ties between Uganda and UAE through Emirates Airlines. By showcasing Uganda’s exceptional tourism assets, we aim to build lasting partnerships that will bring more visitors to experience the Pearl of Africa.”
Lilly Ajarova, the Chief Executive Officer of UTB, emphasized the importance of this partnership. “The collaboration between UTB and Emirates Airlines demonstrates our shared commitment to promoting Uganda as a must-visit destination. The familiarization trip underscores the strategic importance of collaboration that enhances connectivity and showcases Uganda’s unique tourism offerings to the world,” she said. “Together, we are opening new doors for travelers to discover the beauty, culture, and adventure that define the Pearl of Africa.”
Mohamed Taher, Emirates Country Manager, Uganda, added, “As we mark our 25th year of service to Entebbe, we are proud to support the Uganda Tourism Board and bring key tastemakers in the travel trade to experience the Pearl of Africa. Uganda is a much-loved destination on our African network, known for its stunning natural landscapes, wildlife, adventure sports, and warm culture. We look forward to seeing more international travelers from across our global footprint discovering this hidden gem.”
The senior delegation aims to explore the unique tourism opportunities that make Uganda a favored destination within Emirates’ extensive global network. This partnership is expected to significantly boost global interest in Uganda as a travel destination.
The Uganda Tourism Board remains steadfast in its commitment to forging strategic partnerships that enhance the visibility of Uganda’s tourism potential. This collaboration with Emirates not only highlights UTB’s dedication to unlocking new opportunities for the tourism sector but also fosters meaningful connections with international travel stakeholders.
