Uganda is set to take the continental stage as the proud host of the 11th UNESCO Africa Engineering Week and 9th African Engineering Conference, scheduled to run from 14th to 20th September 2025 at the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala.
This landmark event, held under the theme “Leveraging Engineering Innovations and Technology to Accelerate Africa’s Socio–Economic Transformation,” is organized by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) in partnership with the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE).
It will bring together engineers, policymakers, educators, and innovators from across Africa to exchange knowledge, showcase technologies, and tackle the continent’s most pressing engineering and infrastructure challenges.
The UNESCO Africa Engineering Week is a signature annual celebration that promotes the visibility and impact of engineering across the continent. It plays a key role in inspiring youth, integrating STEM into education, and highlighting engineering’s contribution to sustainable development and Agenda 2063 the African Union’s vision for a prosperous and integrated Africa.
The weeklong event will feature a rich program, including: Technical sessions and keynote addresses from leading engineers and innovators, Educational workshops aimed at students and young professionals, Public awareness campaigns to elevate the profile of engineering in society and Mentoring and networking sessions fostering collaboration across sectors
Juliana Kagwa, Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board, expressed enthusiasm about Uganda’s selection:

UTB and UIPE are currently working closely with local and international stakeholders to ensure a memorable and impactful experience for all participants. Uganda’s winning bid reinforces its growing reputation as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and international engagement. With preparations underway, the event is expected to not only celebrate African engineering excellence but also unlock new opportunities for tourism, investment, and knowledge-sharing across the continent.
