Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Namutebi Hadijjah, Director Welfare, Production and Sports, has emphasized the importance of raising awareness about sexual harassment in the workplace.
While closing a workshop on sexual harassment at the United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFRI), AIGP Namutebi commended the Women Affairs department for organizing the event.
Namutebi urged officers to set clear boundaries, especially when interacting on personal terms, to prevent sexual harassment and indiscipline.
She stressed the need to guide junior officers, particularly female recruits, from the start of their training to prevent them from becoming vulnerable to sexual harassment.
In the event of harassment, Namutebi encouraged officers to speak out and seek help from authorities.
The workshop, which brought together 57 officers, aimed to dialogue on sexual harassment cases and streamline the management of related cases within the Uganda Police Force.
