The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), working together with the Uganda Police Force, has arrested and charged two Kamuli District officials over alleged corruption and abuse of office.
The suspects, identified as Mukiibi Nasser and Kifuuse Alex, are senior officials responsible for the allocation and management of government contracts in Kamuli District.
They were arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court in Wandegeya, where they appeared before Chief Magistrate Esther Asiimwe.
In court, the two officials were formally charged with abuse of office and causing financial loss to the government.
The prosecution alleges that between June and July 2025, the suspects mismanaged and unlawfully diverted government funds that had been allocated for the construction of the Nawanyago–Kisozi road in Kamuli District.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the accused are alleged to have misappropriated funds amounting to over 403 million shillings, money that was meant to improve road infrastructure and service delivery in the district.
The court read the charges to the accused, and further proceedings are expected as investigations continue.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit reiterated its commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability in the use of public resources.
The case highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to crack down on corruption, especially in the management of public works and government contracts at the local government level.
