Stanbic Bank to host 2025 East Africa Business Summit in Kampala

Stanbic Bank will host the 3rd annual East Africa Business Summit on October 8, 2025, in Kampala under the theme: ‘Connected and Resilient: Scaling East Africa’s Regional Advantage’.

Patrick Mweheire, the Convenor and outgoing Regional Chief Executive at Stanbic Bank said the summit will focus on intra-regional trade, infrastructure investment, and financial integration, positioning East Africa as a model for other African blocs navigating global volatility.

“This summit is more than a conversation it’s a platform for action. We are at an inflection point where leadership, collaboration, and execution must align to deliver on the region’s full potential,” Mweheire said.

The summit, which follows successful editions in Nairobi (2023) and Dar es Salaam (2024), aims to accelerate regional economic integration by transitioning from high-level dialogue to actionable commitments.

With participation expected from ministers, CEOs, development partners, and cross-border business leaders, the event is poised to be a defining moment for East Africa’s economic trajectory.

Mweheire said the event is in line with Stanbic’s purpose, ‘East Africa is our home, we drive her growth’ committed to transforming Women, Youth and Farmers.

As East Africa grapples with global economic shifts, the 2025 East Africa Business Summit marks a critical juncture for bold leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and strategic investment. Stanbic Bank’s commitment to driving this vision underscores its role not only as a financial institution, but also as a partner in regional transformation.

Stanbic Bank, a long-standing advocate for regional development, will convene stakeholders to explore how East Africa can harness its resilience, connectivity, and economic diversity to emerge as a globally competitive region.

Mumba Kalifungwa, the Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Uganda said the initiative aims not only to spark strategic conversations, but also to drive actionable outcomes, including policy recommendations and investment pledges aimed at boosting intra-regional trade and sustainable development.

The previous summits, held in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam were hailed for fostering partnerships and catalyzing regional business initiatives, with this year’s edition expected to expand that impact even further.

“The summit will delve into key priority areas essential to unlocking East Africa’s economic potential. These include Infrastructure and Development focused on financing and accelerating large-scale regional projects, as well as enhancing logistics and trade corridors and financial services, with emphasis on cross-border financial integration, digital inclusion, and private sector mobilization,” Kalifungwa said.

The summit’s keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Layi Fatona, former CEO of Aradel, setting the tone for a day of strategic insight and bold commitments.

Other speakers include Dr. Joshua Oigara, former CEO of renowned business leader, Allen Asiimwe, Deputy CEO, Trademark Africa, Rodney Seema, Regional Asset Management Lead, InfraCo Africa and Juliana Kaggwa, CEO, Uganda Tourism Board
