Prof Katamba passed away on Tuesday evening, leaving a void in the university community.

He has been on sick leave since August of the previous year. During his absence, Mr Mugheno Leonard, the Registrar of Bugema University, had assumed the responsibilities as the acting DVC-Academics.

In the wake of prof Katamba’s demise, Bugema University looks to Dr. Rosette Kabuye as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics.

Dr. Kabuye, a 48-year-old Ugandan with a robust academic background, previously served as the Dean of the Graduate School at Bugema University’s Kampala Campus.

Dr Rosette Kabuye is expected to lead Bugema University into the next chapter, continuing its commitment to academic excellence and growth.

Details regarding Prof. Katamba’s burial arrangements remain unconfirmed at the time of filing this story.
