In a significant diplomatic move, Kenya’s veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga met with President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Entebbe, today.
Odinga’s visit was in his capacity as special envoy of Kenyan President William Ruto, with a focus on addressing the pressing security situation in South Sudan.
Although details of the discussion remain scarce, President Museveni and Odinga reportedly touched on various matters related to socio-economic and political developments in their respective countries.
Their conversation also explored ways to boost agricultural crop production through the use of phosphates produced in Tororo.
Notably, Odinga’s meeting with President Museveni was not his first. In a previous encounter, they discussed regional and continental issues ahead of the Public-Private Partnership Conference in Kampala.
Today’s meeting, however, held particular significance given Odinga’s role as special envoy and the critical security concerns in South Sudan.
