The territorial Police at Kira Division is investigating a case of vandalism and theft that took place in Kitikifumba Village, Kira Municipality. It is alleged that unknown thugs had broken into the home of Franklin Mwongyera and vandalized his motor vehicle, stealing the number plates.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Oweyesigire commended the swift response of the officers who introduced the K9 unit to track the stolen number plates.
He says that K9 unit was able to track for about 1.4 km to a garden of sweet potatoes, where both the front and rear number plates of the vehicle with registration number UBE 021J were recovered. The recovered number plates have since been handed back to the owner.
Investigations are currently ongoing to identify the suspects behind this act of vandalism and theft. We urge the public to provide any information that may lead to the arrest of the culprits.
“We would like to thank the Kira K9 unit for their outstanding performance in recovering the stolen number plates. The K9 unit is a vital tool in our fight against crime and we will continue to utilize their expertise in our operations.” Luke Oweyesigire Said.
He further encouraged the public to take necessary precautions to safeguard their property against theft and vandalism.
