The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) has joined the rest of the world to mourn the demise of celebrated activist Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
In a statement issued on the party twitter handle, Tutu was described as person of unmatched repute.
“We join the rest of the world to mourn the death of a distinguished South African human rights activist Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who advocated for justice & one of the primary voices in exhorting the South African govt to end apartheid at the time. His legacy will forever live on.” The message read.
Bobi Wine said, ” The news of the passing of Archbishop Desmond Tutu is very sad. A giant has fallen. We thank God for his life- a purposeful life, truly lived in the service of humanity. May his soul rest in peace. Condolences to all people world-over who were touched by his life and ministry.”
In the same spirit, the Party Secretary General Lewis David Rubongoya also conveyed has condolences to friends, family and the entire Pan African fraternity through posting one of his famous quotes.

Desmond Tutu, the cleric and social activist who was a giant of the struggle against apartheid in South Africa, has died aged 90.
Tutu, described by foreign observers and his countrymen as the moral conscience of his nation, died in Cape Town on Boxing Day.
“The passing of archbishop emeritus Desmond Tutu is another chapter of bereavement in our nation’s farewell to a generation of outstanding South Africans who have bequeathed us a liberated South Africa,” president Cyril Ramaphosa said.
