NRM Leaders Urged to Update Voter Register Ahead of 2026 Elections

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has called on party leaders and supporters to actively participate in the upcoming Voter Register Verification exercise.

This initiative is part of the electoral roadmap leading to the General Elections scheduled for early 2026.

In a letter dated January 7, 2025, Museveni extended greetings and congratulated the NRM leadership for their efforts in the past year while also expressing condolences for members who passed away in 2024.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the Voter Register is accurate and up to date, particularly as the electoral process approaches.

The verification exercise will take place from January 7 to January 10, 2025, during which registered voters’ names will be displayed at polling stations across the country.

This is crucial for ensuring that individuals confirm their registration status and the removal of those who have died. Additionally, young people who have turned 18 are encouraged to register.

“I urge all leaders and supporters of the NRM to take this opportunity to check their names on the registers and help update them by removing the deceased and adding new voters,” Museveni stated in his letter.
