New Orthodox Archbishop Pays Courtesy Call To Kyabazinga Of Busoga

The new Archbishop elect of the Orthodox Church of Uganda, Leronymos Muzeeyi, has paid a courtesy call to the Kyabazinga of Busoga His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV.

During the visit at Igenge Palace in Jinja City, the Kyabazinga congratulated Muzeeyi upon his appointment and lauded the Orthodox Church for uniting Basoga and Ugandans at large.

Muzeeyi was appointed following the demise of the late Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga, who served as Archbishop of Kampala and Exarch of all Uganda, in Central Africa under the Eastern Orthodox Church of Alexandria.

The Kyabazinga welcomed the Archbishop and his entourage in Busoga and thanked the Orthodox for promoting Cultural norms and values.

The Monarch requested the Archbishop to work together with Busoga Kingdom so that they promote service delivery in Busoga and in Uganda.

He said the Palace is open to everyone who wishes to visit it with aims of continuing to develop Busoga.

In his remarks the Archbishop elect, Muzeeyi, said he came to the Igenge Palace to introduce himself to the Kyabazinga of Busoga and was happy that the Kyabazinga received him with a great joy in his heart.

Muzeeyi thanked the central government for restoring cultural institutions in the Country, with Busoga inclusive.

Later the Archbishop exchanged gifts with the Kyabazinga of Busoga as a sign to show love and unity between the Orthodox and Busoga Kingdom.

Present at the ceremony was Busoga Kingdom’s Katukiro Owek. Dr. Joseph Muvawala, his second deputy Owek. Osman Noor Ahmed, The Minister for Foreign Affairs Owek. Joan Machora Kitto, The Minister in charge of Kyabazinga Affairs Owek. Yudaya Babirye, the new Bishop of Jinja and all eastern Uganda in the Orthodox Church Sylvester Kisitu, Rev. Fr. John Kibuka Bbosa, Fr. Anastacia Isabirye, Rev. Fr Emmanuel Basajjakitalo, Rev and Fr. Paul Mutaasa Nzalambi among others.
