Now That Elections Can’t Remove Museveni, What Strategy Can We Use – Wakiso Leaders Petition Besigye.

A group of political activists and leaders from Wakiso met President Kizza Besigye at his residence yo seek for political guidance and tutoring on how to reinvigorate the struggle, remotivate activists and reorganize leaders to give leadership to the struggle.
The activists, worried about political despondency, they approached Besigye as doyen of struggle to help refocus the struggle movement saying his idealism, resolve, and aspirations remain remarkably distinct.

The leaders claimed that they are at crossroads after another rigged 2021 election saying while they are now convinced that an election on its own cannot remove Mr. Museveni from power, they are unsure of how to pursue and execute the best other alternatives.
Besigye opened up to them about the challenges that need to be overcome to purposely focus on liberation including unity of all political forces seeking change, overcoming contradictions within opposition forces, mobilisation tactics, and most importantly, overcoming infiltration, regime propaganda, and compromising of opposition leaders.

While many expressed concern that his refusal to challenge Museveni through an election was demoralising, he assured them that Museveni can be challenged, weakened and finally defeated without going through his election.
“As the regime stands now, we can defeat them now without looking to another rigged election. The regime is at its weakest ever”, Besigye said.
