Lukwago Decries Parliament Committee’s Bias Conduct, Walks Out In Protest

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago also Counsel to Mityana Municipality MP, Hon. Francis Zake, on Tuesday morning walked out of the Rules, Privileges and Discipline Committee of Parliament, that is considering the matter of alleged defamatory statement made by Hon.Zake against the Woman Member of Parliament(WMP) for Rakai Hon. Juliet Kyinyamatama Suubi, due to the committee, allegedly conducting it’s proceedings in a biased manner.

During the committee proceedings, Hon. Kyinyamatama who was allowed to make her case by reading a written statement despite protests by Counsel for Hon.Zake, continued being elusive at cross examination and repeatedly refused to answer direct questions put to her, including getting outrightly combative, when asked of her registered name and status as a voter in Rakai District.

The committee’s proceeding, that was scheduled to handle other five witnesses presented by Hon. Kyinamatama, however came to halt, when Counsel Erias Lukwago stopped the cross examination and excused himself over disruption from the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Committee Hon.Abdu Katuntu and Hon. Bishop Onen respectively, who repeatedly appeared to shield the Rakai WMP from further cross examination.

The matter was adjourned to a date to be communicated.
