Highlights from the 45th Tarehe Sita Anniversary Celebrations in Kabale

The National Training Centre (NTC) Grounds in Kabale Municipality came alive with colour, discipline, and patriotic fervour as Uganda marked the 45th anniversary of Tarehe Sita, a significant day in the country’s liberation history.

The celebrations were held under the theme, “Defending the Gains of the Revolution and Honoring the Sacrifices of the Freedom Fighters: A Call for National Unity, Peace, and Socio-Economic Transformation,” underscoring the enduring values that guided Uganda’s liberation struggle and continue to shape the nation’s development path.

Tarehe Sita, observed annually on February 6, commemorates the launch of the armed struggle in 1981 that eventually ushered in a new political dispensation in Uganda. This year’s event in Kabale drew military officials, political leaders, veterans, and members of the public, all united in reflection and celebration.

The pictorial highlights captured moments of precision and pride during military parades by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), showcasing professionalism, discipline, and readiness in safeguarding national sovereignty. Veterans and families of fallen freedom fighters were also honoured, reminding Ugandans of the sacrifices made to secure peace and stability.

Cultural performances from local groups added colour and rhythm to the day, celebrating Uganda’s rich diversity and reinforcing the message of unity across regions and communities. The event also featured exhibitions highlighting milestones in national development, security, and socio-economic transformation over the past four decades.

Speakers at the समारोह called upon Ugandans to uphold the gains of the revolution by promoting peace, hard work, and patriotism, emphasizing that sustainable development and national progress depend on collective responsibility.

As reflected in the images from the day, the 45th Tarehe Sita anniversary was not only a moment of remembrance but also a renewed commitment to Uganda’s journey toward unity, peace, and inclusive socio-economic transformation.
