Health Ministry, Should we remind you the difference between midwifery and gynecology?

What is the differences between midwifery and gynecology?

I think we need to organise and sue the ministry and other regulatory bodies like UNMC, MOES THAT accredits these programs for segregation of course by sex. Yet a program should clearly define what a product will do at the end of the programme. If this is clear why ask council to develop a scope for practice. Could all these issues be called ethical dilemma or Ugandan nursing professional dilemmas

The nursing fraternity sometimes have allowed government to use us.

These are some of the serious issues in professional nursing, its really bleach of ethical principles:

1. I don’t see Autonomy. Doctors decide for us.

2. I don’t see justice at all. Most People have continued to view nursing as a work majorly for women.

3. I don’t see beneficence. They don’t mind about nurses welfare

3. I don’t see Non maleficence. E.t.c

Why do we teach or taught these ethical principles yet we don’t benefit from them, do you now expect us the nurses to practice them. I think this is completely out of law provisions.

The universities that claim to harbor those with high education should form a unit and periodically engage, support the department at MOH and council to steer a vision for the profession. Otherwise it will not happen until those who cook become involved. You start degree Nursing, degree midwifery but you want nursing degree to do even midwifery then what will the degree midwifery do.

People who are well conversant with the Ugandan law should show us the direction and we work on these nursing issues,

I know its possible to change the face of nursing in Uganda.

Really, I know men who are always peeping in women’s thighs, and even touching there beyond the orifice to help in birthing and treat reproductive disorders; these men are referred to as gynaecologists, it beats my understanding when someone says that men should not be recruited as midwives yet the so called gynaecologists are men. I have time and again asked myself why the male can’t do certificate or diploma in midwifery, this is gender equalities. If they don’t want to recruit men as midwives, let them find another name to call nursing men who help mothers in the birthing process. What is the differences between midwifery and gynecology? Someone should explain this to me.
