Following the electoral violence incidences that manifested in the ruling National Resistance Movement Party (NRM) party primaries, the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party has started the move to enable them not to copy and paste the same mistakes.
News reaching our site indicates that the party leadership of the Kamwokya based party is working tooth and nail to sweet talk its members to pull out of the race without necessarily going through the ballot box.
Though this is against the fundamentals of democracy, but the leadership insists that unless this is done, they bound to trail into a hips sludge that could compromise the party unity and support ahead of the looming 2021 general elections.
According to sources, Bobi Wine and his delegation have hand-picked individuals they wish to carry on the party flags thus leaving the rest of the members to sort themselves in the so called primaries expected to take place this month.
Here is the list of the lucky individuals, who will go into primaries for the sake of perplexing the public include the following;
Kamuli municipality Member of Parliament – Bigirwa Moses
Bugweri Woman MP – Mercy Walukamba the chairperson of NUP Elections management committee
Nakawa County West constituency – Joel Ssenyonyi who is the spokesperson of NUP party.
Kampala Central Bobi Wine Elder brother – Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu popularly known as Chairman Nyanzi
Rubaga South – Mukasa Aloysius who is linked to Museveni’s young brother Gen Salim Saleh.
Kawempe south – Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira who is the president of Uganda Journalist Association (UJA).
Kyotera County – Kirumira Lwanga who is among NUP coordinators in greater Masaka.
Kimanya – Kabonera constituency – Dr Abed Bwanika, who is former presidential aspirant.
Nyendo – Mukungwe Hon Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba who is the vice president of NUP Buganda region.
Nakawa county East constituency – Mayor Nsubuga Ronald Balimwezo.
Mpigi Woman MP – Joan Lule who is also linked to General Salim Saleh.
Mawokota county south constituency – Counsel Yusuf Nsimbambi
Mawokota county north constituency singer Hilary Innocent Kiyaga popularly known as Dr Hilderman.
Mityana municipality constituency MP – Zaake Francis Butebi.
Rubaga county north constituency – Haji Kawalya Abubarker who is the speaker Kampala Capital City Authority.
Kakuuto County – Singer Geoffrey Lutaaya.
Bukomansimbi wan MP – Hon Veronica Nanyondo Naganda, she is the incumbent woman MP.
Bukomansimbi county South constituency – Kayemba Solo.
Nakifuma County – Omulangira Simbwa Fred.
Makindye East – Nkambo Ssenungi Daudi a son to former Buganda Kingdom minister Isreal Mayengo.
Buikwe district woman MP Ms Nabatanzi Faridah who is also on the organising and mobilisation committee of NUP.
Mukono county North constituency Kiwanuka Abdullah also known as Mulima Mayuuni.
Mukono district woman MP – Namayengo Lydia Njuba who is also among NUP coordinators in Kampala Metropolitan.
Mityana county north – Dr Gordon Katende Ssematiko who was key during the passing of the controversial Land Bill in 2009 that lead to the arrest of three Buganda officials.
Busiro county East constituency – Hon Medard Ssegona. He is the incumbent area MP on DP ticket.
Butambala county hon Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, he is also the incumbent area MP on DP ticket.
Mukono municipality hon Betty Nambooze Bakireke, incumbent area MP on DP ticket.
Kampala central division chairperson Ssemugoma Amudan.
Nsangi town council chairperson Singer Mathias Walukagga Mulumba.
Wakiso district chairperson Hon Matia Lwanga Bwanika. He is the incumbent district chairman on DP ticket.
