Bulambuli district woman MP Irene Nafuna Muloni on Wednesday 8/Feb/2023 handed over 54 beds to district health team they lobby from ministry of Health to boost its bed capacity in Maternity Care Facilities.
Vincent Natega DHO Bulambuli district, confirm to Bugisu intellectual that they received 54 beds from their area MPs, 30 from Woman MP and 8 each from three constituency MPs.
“We allocated 8 beds to Health center IV, 4 beds to Health center III and 1 bed to each Health center IIs.” Natega said.
“As a district we are very happy to receive these beds from our area MPs, the purpose of these beds is to improve on service delivery on inpatients because they have been sleeping on grounds more especially Muyembe health center IV where we constructed a Maternity Ward but without beds.” He said.
Nakusi Beth the in charge Muyembe health center IV told Bugisu intellectual that the biggest challenge at the facility is admissions are always more than expected.
“The patients have been sleeping on the floor because daily we admit 8 delivering mothers. Though this will boost us but still we have a big gap we need more beds at the facility.” Nakusi noted.
Bulambuli district RDC Mr Stanley Bayole said
when he came to Bulambuli it was Like No man’s land. Adding that him and his deputy have been on ground that’s why there’s an improvement In Education and health sector by enforcing arrests to civil servants who misbehave at work.”
Stanley said, he arrested Health workers in three Health centers and those who refused transfers i have forced them and the issue of Accountability for the funds of PHC has been effectively done.
“I request the Woman MP to call for a political meeting at the district with all stakeholders, we discuss how best we can develop the district.” Bayole noted.
“Since the district is struggling financially i also request our woman mp to help and get mattresses for the beds” He added.
Engineer Irene Nafuna Muloni woman MP for Bulambuli district told Bugisu intellectual that her interest is to ensure that Health service delivery in the district is at expected standards.
While handing over the beds Muloni said that she has been informed that corruption is high in the district but appealed to officials that let us work for our people.
“As a country we still have challenges, while the planing to have a hospital in every district, Health center IVs in every constituency and Health center IIIs in every sub county and well equiped with staff to deliver quality services that’s the target i have now.” She said.
Muloni said, “We looked at accommodation in Health facilities is one of the key issues, we lobbied for hospital beds which am grade i have delivered to various health centers in the district.
“With my colleagues the MPs we agreed that we distribute on those facilities that are really in need and i have fulfilled that objective” Irene said.
Muloni noted that, Muyembe health center IV got 8 beds, Buyaga HC III 4 beds, Bunambutye Health centre III 4 beds and Bukhalu HC III also received 4 beds and the distribution to continue today in other facilities in the district
“We shall continue lobbying for more beds and other things because as a district we still need many but would thank the govt and president Museveni for the arrangements he has done into the various sectors like health in the country.” She said.
