Buganda Kuntiiko: Kooki County Unveils New Administration Building

Kooki County has unveiled a new kakkalabizo, a traditional symbol of authority in the Buganda kingdom.

The new facility replaces the old one taken by the government and marks a major step forward for the county’s identity and autonomy.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including the representative of the Minister of Buganda Affairs, Mr. George William Kasumba Ddumba.

The Chief of Kooki, Gertrude Ssebuggwawo, expressed her determination to assert Kooki’s authority and rights within the kingdom.

“We, the people of Kooki, are committed to upholding our traditions and values. The new kakkalabizo is a symbol of our identity and resilience,” Ssebuggwawo said.

Minister of State for Buganda Affairs, Joseph Kawuki, praised the people of Kooki for their efforts to preserve their cultural heritage.

“This is a proud moment for Kooki County and the Buganda kingdom as a whole. We must continue to work together to promote our shared values and traditions.”

Officials say that the unveiling of the new kakkalabizo is seen as a positive development in the kingdom’s efforts to assert its authority and preserve its cultural heritage.
