Lukwago, Red Cross Donate Items Worth Millions to Kisenyi Fire Victims

Kampala city Lord mayor Erias Lukwago today led KCCA team in partnership with Uganda Red Cross, in donating non food items to victims of fire outbreak that ravaged tenements at Kisenyi-II (Chamuka) Kamwokya-II Parish, Kampala Central Division.

The Lord Mayor appreciated Uganda Red Cross for their timely interventions whenever emergency situations arise in the City and committed to further collaboration in addressing and preventing such occurrences.

The Director Gender and Social Services Ms. Shillah Birungi stated that besides the items donated today, that amongst others included; blankets, tarpaulins, jerrycans, utensils and solar lights, further interventions are to be undertaken by the Authority to support the vulnerable victims most especially Women and Child headed households.

The fire outbreak that occurred in the wee hours of 25th October 2024, claimed one victim, injured several others with some still hospitalized and left hundreds homeless and destitute.

Present at the occasion to donate the items to hundreds of victims gathered were the City Executive Committee members, Representatives of Uganda Police, Red Cross Management and local leaders.
