SHAME; You Confiscated Brand New Computers With No Data – NUP Lampoons Police

The National Unity Platform (NUP) leadership has spoken out against the recent police raid on their offices, with a key ICT officer assuring that all confidential digital files and data are safe.

Ninye Tabz, the party’s ICT officer, took to Twitter to taunt the police, saying they only confiscated brand new computers with no data.

With all confidence I can tell you for sure that all the @NUP_Ug confidential digital files and data is in safe hands. This is 2025 and we are the smart generation.

Dear Police, what you have are just brand new computers that are as empty as your heads. Tabz took the rant on social media.

The police raid, which occurred on Friday, February 21, was part of a joint security operation that targeted the NUP headquarters in Makerere Kavule and their leadership institute in Kamwokya. The security forces allegedly seized various items, including computers, documents, and branded materials.

NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, condemned the raid, describing it as an attack on democracy. He accused the security forces of looting and planting evidence, and vowed to take legal and political action.

The NUP leadership has been critical of the government’s handling of the raid, with some officials alleging that the security forces were attempting to cripple the party ahead of the 2026 elections. The party has also raised concerns about the presence of foreign operatives during the raid, with Bobi Wine questioning their involvement.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many Ugandans taking to social media to express their outrage and solidarity with the NUP. The party has assured its supporters that it will continue to fight for democracy and human rights, despite the challenges posed by the government.
