The NRM’s Uthman Mugisha wins Hoima district LCV By-election

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Uthman Mugisha Mubarak has been declared the winner for the Hoima district chairperson By-election.

He has been declared by Merab Kasande, the Hoima District Returning Officer after gathering 18,353 votes.

Mugisha Uthman Mubaraka replaces his father, Kirungi Kadiri (R.I.P) who perished in a road accident, on 17th March 2023.

The runner-up, Muhumuza Vincent Savana (Independent) got 12,020 votes.

The two-month election process has been rated by observers and the Commission as smooth, calm, exemplary and “one of the best by-elections” thus far.

This by-election has also been unique, especially that Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, the Chairperson of the Uganda Electoral Commission also hails from Hoima District.
